1 4
JP010392

Hardy Wistuba Stange, painter. Born in Puerto Montt, Chile, on June 1, 1925, he died in Santiago on June 22, 2010.

His artistic initiation began at the German School of Puerto Montt during his primary education, and later at the University of Chile Secondary School in Santiago. In 1940, he became familiar with the watercolor technique after meeting the Catalan painter Ignacio Baixas, who spent a period painting the landscapes of southern Chile. In 1942, he enrolled at the University of Chile's School of Fine Arts, where he excelled in painting classes and won consecutive awards in the student halls. He was a student of Jorge Caballero, Laureano Guevara, and Gustavo Carrasco.

In this painting we see a landscape that could reflect southern Chile, where we see a church and recognize an araucaria tree.
