Jaime Petit Breuilh - Abstract

1 4
VC1013

Painting by Jaime Petit-Breuilh.

A descendant of French settlers in the Lirquén region, throughout his life he has combined manual labor in various activities with his artistic vocation. He is a self-taught painter. A child of hard work, with a highly sensitive mother and a grandfather intent on teaching him the mysteries and uses of each tool in his mining workshop. It is these tools or mysterious machines, stored in dark, damp basements, that motivate the artist in this exhibition and are the central theme of his paintings. This is where the sculptural character of central volumes we can appreciate in his works and the strange names associated with them comes from. He works in oil paint, which he likes to let dry naturally, in thin layers and adds graphics by scratching with tools of his own making.

Origin: Chile, 2006.

Measurements: 69x69cms high.
