Israel Roa Villagra - Watercolor 'Rural Road'
Israel Roa Villagra was born on May 28, 1909 in Angol, Chile.
Showing little interest in his studies at the high school, he developed his vocation for painting early on. At the age of 13, he attempted to hold his first exhibition. In 1926, he traveled to Santiago to take the entrance exam to the School of Fine Arts, much to his parents' dismay. However, upon being admitted, he took classes with Ricardo Bruchon Brunet. in drawing , and with Carlos Lagarrigue and Virginio Arias in sculpture . He was also a student of Juan Francisco González in painting, who also became his teacher outside the classroom.
