Alonso Pérez - Oil on wood 'Cortejo'
Oil on wood by the Spanish artist Alonso Pérez (1881-1914), depicting a lady seated in a garden, facing forward, next to a gentleman. He appears to be saying something to her, but she does not look at him, instead maintaining her pose. The scene is painted in exquisite detail, delicately capturing not only the textures of the lace and ruffles of her dress, the folds of the fabric, and the gestures of the figures, but also the textures of the landscape and the sky. The work has a magnificent wooden frame carved in relief, finished with an elegant gilt finish.
